Download Free The Promise of Robert W. Jenson's Theology PDF by Stephen John Wright Full Book and published by Fortress Press. This book was released on 2017-09-01 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: North America has rarely produced a theologian as creative and productive as Robert W. Jenson. A truly ecumenical thinker, Jenson consistently demonstrates the way that the church’s confession of the triune God of scripture restructures Christian thinking. Jenson’s work on the nature of theology has focused on the category of “promise”: a way with language that opens up new possibilities. At the heart of Jenson’s theology of the gospel is the conviction that, in Christ, God discloses a word of pure promise to us, enabling new patterns of life. Just as the gospel opens up new ways of living, good theology unfolds into new interpretations and articulations. Engaging Jenson’s work across vital areas, this volume lays out the contours and key contributions of Jenson’s thought for modern Christology, theological interpretation of Scripture, the doctrine of the Trinity in light of the recent Trinitarian revival, and ecumenical theological relations. This volume gathers together essays by some of contemporary theology’s most capable thinkers, such as Oliver Crisp, Stephen Holmes, Joseph Mangina, Peter Leithart, Telford Work, Eugene Rogers, R. Kendall Soulen, and Peter Ochs, to examine the ways in which Jenson’s own theology functions as “promise,” enabling further theological visions and articulations.

Download Free The Answer: God's Covenants of Promise PDF by John E. Hollywell Full Book and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2015-10-28 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many years of biblical study have showed John E. Hollywell that most people have never had an accurate explanation of biblical truths and do not know what an amazing inheritance the Bible says they may have once they make Jesus their Lord and Saviour. The chaos the world suffers was foretold in the Bible. Scientists offer explanations, but governments, politicians, and educators have no answers as to why there is such poverty, crime, war, disease, mental health problems, and other forms of misery in the world today. Are there solutions to all of these issues? Emphatically, the author says, Yes! Hosea 4:6 says that Gods people are destroyed through lack of knowledge. This book provides some such knowledge in a simple, readable format. The Answer: God's Covenants of Promise will have achieved its purpose if it can open a readers eyes to see the Word of God as it was meant to be understood, why seemingly good people worldwide are so hostile and inhumane to each other, and who Jesus is and what was His true purpose for coming. The Answer: God's Covenants of Promise was written for everyone who might seek to know where humanity came from, why we are here, and where we go in the future, into eternity. The Answer: God's Covenants of Promise seeks to answer such scientific, evolutionary, and spiritual questions as What is faith in God? to be found through Jesus of Nazareth, Gods son.
Download Free Hematologies PDF by Jacob Copeman Full Book and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2019-12-15 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this ground-breaking account of the political economy and cultural meaning of blood in contemporary India, Jacob Copeman and Dwaipayan Banerjee examine how the giving and receiving of blood has shaped social and political life. Hematologies traces how the substance congeals political ideologies, biomedical rationalities, and activist practices. Using examples from anti-colonial appeals to blood sacrifice as a political philosophy to contemporary portraits of political leaders drawn with blood, from the use of the substance by Bhopali children as a material of activism to biomedical anxieties and aporias about the excess and lack of donation, Hematologies broaches how political life in India has been shaped through the use of blood and through contestations about blood. As such, the authors offer new entryways into thinking about politics and economy through a "bloodscape of difference": different sovereignties; different proportionalities; and different temporalities. These entryways allow the authors to explore the relation between blood's utopic flows and political clottings as it moves through time and space, conjuring new kinds of social collectivities while reanimating older forms, and always in a reflexive relation to norms that guide its proper flow.

Meet the New Dawn is a keenly powerful and poignant story about the last years of Zeke and Abbie Monroe’s life together, and how their love and their passion for each other lingers on into their twilight years as proof that age and the challenges of life cannot dim the love these two share, a love that causes a man and woman to see each other only as the fifteen-year-old girl who once touched a savage older man’s hand over a campfire, a touch that changed both their lives forever. Get out the Kleenex for this powerful read you will never, ever forget! PRAISE: “Power, passion, tragedy, and triumph are Rosanne Bittner’s hallmarks. Download Free Chinkstar PDF by Jon Chan Simpson Full Book and published by Coach House Books. This book was released on 2015-07-13 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everything was about to change. In less than forty-eight hours guy'd be taking the stage in Vancouver, owning an audience meant for some all-hype-no-talent young-money rapper, spitting next-level truths that'd have A&Rs scrapping for him coast to coast. He'd ink some paper and drop an album on the world it didn't even know it had been waiting for. All with game and swag to spare. This was the edge, the almost there, and we knew it. Chinksta rap is all the rage in small-town Alberta. And the king of Chinksta is King Kwong, high-schooler Run's older brother. Run isn't a fan of Kwong's music—or personality, really. But when Kwong goes missing the night before his crowning performance and his mom gets wounded in crossfire, Run finds himself, with his sidekick, Ali, in the middle of a violent battle between rival Chinese rap gangs, on the run from his crush's behemoth brother, and rethinking his feelings about his family and their history, his hatred of "rice-rap," and what it means to be Asian. With imaginAsian and a flair for the rap lyric, Jon Chan Simpson mashes up the (graphicless) graphic novel and the second-generation-immigrant narrative to forge a bold new vision of what the novel can be. Jonathan Chan Simpson grew up in Red Deer, Alberta, and lives in Toronto, Ontario. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto's MA creative writing program, and his work has been featured in Ricepaper magazine.
Download Free Promise-Giving and Treaty Making PDF by Peter Karavites Full Book and published by BRILL. This book was released on 1992 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book challenges the current view of the Homeric epics, according to which they reflect only the institutions and ideas of their own time, telling us nothing about the Mycenaean Age preceding it. Using a comparative analysis of evidence from the Near East and the Homeric corpus, Peter Karavites comes to the bold conclusion that the epics actually contain much that harks back to the Mycenaean Age, and that the two eras may not be completely discontinuous after all. Most contemporary scholars maintain that the mighty Mycenaean period was almost completely separated from the Dark Ages and that virtually no evidence of the former remains, with the exception of the archeological finds and the meager testimony of the Linear B tablets. However, the Near Eastern evidence about treaties and other forms of promising suggests that the Iliad and Odyssey may indeed provide historical pictures of the Mycenaean times featured in their narratives.

Download Free Dominic PDF by Mark Pryor Full Book and published by Prometheus Books. This book was released on 2018-01-02 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Only two other people know that Dominic, a charming Englishman, prosecutor, and musician in Austin, Texas, is also a psychopath. They also know that a year ago he got away with murder. One of those people is his "special lady," and the other is her brother, a teenager and fellow psychopath called Bobby. When a wily homicide detective starts digging up that past murder, little Bobby offers to take care of the problem--permanently. Dominic tries to dissuade him, but as he himself knows, psychopaths aren't good with following instructions. Or impulse control. As Detective Megan Ledsome circles closer, Dominic knows his life depends on keeping his secrets hidden, from her and the rest of the world. And when his annoying office-mate declares his interest in a judicial position, one he himself would like, Dominic realizes that one of his carefully-orchestrated plans could kill two birds with one stone. Of course, that means some sleight of hand and a sacrifice or two. But if there's one thing a psychopath doesn't mind, it's sacrificing other people.
