Download Free Light Come, Light Go PDF by Ralph Nevill Full Book and published by Prabhat Prakashan. This book was released on 2021-01-01 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Light Come, Light Go: The passion for speculation which, throughout all ages, has captivated the great bulk of humanity, would seem to be an innate characteristic of mankind. It assumes various forms and guises which often deceive those over whom it exercises its sway, and becomes in numberless cases a veritable obsession, causing its victims to devote the whole of their time, thoughts, and money—sometimes even their lives—to its service. Devotees of the simpler forms of gambling, such as are to be procured at the card-table and on the race-course, are often looked down upon by people who are themselves under the sway of other insidious, if more reputable, modes of tempting fortune. For all speculation, whether it be in pigs or wheat, stocks and shares, race-horses or cards, is in essence the same—its main feature being merely the desire to obtain “something for nothing,” or in other words to acquire wealth without work. Gambling, of no matter what kind, is thus a conscious and deliberate departure from the general aim of civilised society, which is to obtain proper value for its money. The gambler, on the other hand, receives either a great deal more than he gives or nothing at all.
Download Free Coming Light PDF by Des Floody Full Book and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2004 with total page 80 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has been happening to me for the past twenty years. That may sound a little strange but, I have never sat down at any time with the intention of writing a poem. It all began when I attended a funeral one afternoon. As I listened to the funeral service I could not help feeling how little comfort the words brought to me. All that day I could not stop thinking about the words of the service; surely, I thought, there must be better words to say to those who are grieving. That evening I went for a walk, and as I stood by a farm gate looking over the fields, I had the most extraordinary urge to wrote something. I had no idea what I should write; I only know that I must write. So I hurried back home and sat down with a pen and paper. I still had no idea what I should write about. I sat there for about three minutes, still feeling the urge, and then my hand began to write. It is a very strange thing to see your hand writing words on paper which are not n your head. I'm quite used to it now, but on that first occasion I was a bit shocked. The writing that day was the poem 'Think of Me' and as you cans see, they are words which have brought comfort to friends from time to time. All the poems come through in their finished state, I rarely if ever have to change a word. I'm happy to say that years later I still get the urge and the poems are still bringing me messages. It is my sincere wish that others will find messages also. Cover painting- "Comes the Dawn" by Des Floody

Download Free When Love Comes to Light PDF by Richard Freeman Full Book and published by Shambhala Publications. This book was released on 2020-09-22 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Eminent yoga teachers Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor explore essential lessons from The Bhagavad Gita to reveal a practical guide for living in today's complex world. The Bhagavad Gita is one of the most influential and widely recognized ancient texts in Indian epic literature. Through the telling of the story and its many different philosophical teachings, the text provides deep insight into how to meet life's inevitable challenges while remaining open, clear, and compassionate. It offers modern day wisdom seekers a framework for understanding our core beliefs and who we really are--revealing the fact that healthy relationships to others and the world are essential to living a full, compassionate, balanced life. Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor, both deeply respected yogic teachers, offer a practical, immediately relevant interpretation that emphasizes self-reflection and waking up in our modern world. Following the traditional sequence of teachings in The Bhagavad Gita--from its opening scene in which Arjuna finds himself in the middle of a battlefield, hesitating and trapped between opposing sides, torn by his dharma and confused by the various paths of action he might choose in the process of awakening--Freeman and Taylor interweave insight into how these classic teachings are relevant for modern readers struggling with what it means to live responsibly in the twenty-first century. With quotes, citations, and a full translation of the original text, they look at the overall arc of the The Bhagavad Gita's teachings and how that relates to the turmoil that arises, not only for Arjuna, but for any of us in the face of crises of conscience, spirit, and form. Exploring the essential themes such as love, wisdom, and karma, and by offering embodiment exercises to apply the teachings, When Love Comes to Light guides readers in the step-by-step process of waking up their intelligence and finding a path toward compassionate action.

Download Free Come into the Light PDF by Tony Scully Full Book and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2020-09-03 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tony Scully’s poems in Come into the Light offer an outspoken conversation with the Gospels, arguably the most transformative teaching in our known history. The wisdom of the great masters among us, Jesus, the Buddha, and Mohammed, speak of universal compassion, love, and forgiveness. Jesus preaches that one will find God, not in invoking what amounts to an anthropomorphic idol, but in searching one’s own heart, as in his fundamental teaching, “the kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:21). Tony Scully’s poems address Jesus, the central figure of the Gospels, with questioning, irreverence, and occasional confrontation. In his view, many of the stories, even that of the resurrection itself, hinge on miracles, reflecting earlier religions that expected gods to cure illnesses, raise the dead, and even to walk on water, rather than on the powers of compassion, love, and forgiveness that characterize Jesus. In the author’s view, the heart of Jesus is proof enough of his transcendence.

Download Free Light Come Shining PDF by Andrew McCarron PhD Full Book and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2016-12-06 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bob Dylan is the prince of self-reinvention and deflection. Whether it's the folkies of Greenwich Village, the student movement of the 1960s and 1970s, Born Again Christians, the Chabad Lubavitch community, or English Department postmodernists, specific intellectual and sociopolitical groups have repeatedly claimed Bob Dylan as their spokesperson. But in the words of filmmaker Todd Haynes, who cast six actors to depict different facets of Dylan's life and artistic personae in his 2009 film I'm Not There, "The minute you try to grab hold of Dylan, he's no longer where he was." In Light Come Shining, writer Andrew McCarron uses psychological tools to examine three major turning points - or transformations - in Bob Dylan's life: the aftermath of his 1966 motorcycle "accident," his Born Again conversion in 1978, and his recommitment to songwriting and performing in 1987. With fascinating insight, McCarron reveals how a common script undergirds Dylan's self-explanations of these changes; and, at the heart of this script, illuminates a fascinating story of spiritual death and rebirth that has captivated us all for generations.
