Book excerpt: THE GRIP OF IT is a psychologically intense literary horror novel that deals in questions of home: how we make it and how it in turn makes us A chilling literary horror novel, Jac Jemc’s THE GRIP OF IT tells the story Julie and James, a young couple haunted by their new home. The move―prompted by James’s penchant for gambling, his inability to keep his impulses in check―is quick and seamless; both Julie and James are happy to leave behind their usual haunts and start afresh. But the house, which sits between lake and forest, has plans for the unsuspecting couple... The architecture becomes unrecognisable, decaying before their eyes. Stains contract and expand, mapping themselves onto Julie’s body in the form of bruises; mould taints the water that James pours from the sink. As the couple search for the source of their mutual torment, they become mired in the history of their peculiar neighbours and the mysterious previous residents of the house. Written in eerie, powerful prose, THE GRIP OF IT is an enthralling and psychologically intense novel that deals in questions of home: how we make it and how it in turn makes us, inhabiting the bodies and the relationships we cherish.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The third volume in this beautifully illustrated anthology features traditional tales of heroic women from China to Canada and beyond. Long before Suzanne Collins created Katniss Everdeen and Octavia Butler wrote Parable of the Sower, there were many traditional folktales full of adventure, intrigue, and intrepid female characters. Feminist Folktales from Around the World collects these forgotten classics and presents them with original artwork by designer and illustrator Suki Boynton. Volume three in the series, Sea Girl features an introduction by Daniel Jose Older, the New York Times bestselling author of The Book of Lost Saints. In legends from China, Finland, India, Canada, and more, brave heroines encounter monstrous rivers and ogres' nests while outsmarting desperate sharks and hungry tigers. They courageously save families and villages—and, most importantly, they always choose their own fate.

Book excerpt: A suspenseful romantic action-packed thriller. A gorgeous young lady turned Most Wanted. A romantic trip and a love to die for. A hidden secret. An evil brutal regime practicing a cult they believe existed even before God created the world. Until the regime is stopped life is on the line. A must read. ABOUT THE SERIES EVELINA A secret cult that existed even before this world was created is still at the center of murder a thousand years later. A ruthless regime is using this cult to run rampage and havoc. A corrupt and evil world where murder is the norm. A place so dark and scary where they all come out in numbers where they are slaughtered in thousands. A place where they are naked:-no rights, hopes, or anything to hang on to. A place where the only hope and courage is the heart-engraved-belief that someone will solve God's Dilemma and rise to save humanity. A pledge to fight to the death because the sole existence of the regime is to restore the lost kingdom of darkness at humanity's expense. Where restoring it means slaughtering two-thirds of the world's population in 48 hours known as the 48 Hours of Darkness. It's a story of great courage in the face of death. The rise of Tomorrow's World Order citing the system as the root of all evil setting a collision course with the regime. The suspenseful questions are when and of what magnitude will the collision be and the devastating outcome? Will the regime allow a system change? Where stakes are high and the regime will defend the system at any cost will they succeed and at what cost? How can mankind survive the most feared devil's ghosts? Are you to be the lucky few to be spared in the 48 hours of darkness? Is mankind doomed or there is hope? What is God's Dilemma and can it really be solved? Unless God's Dilemma is solved mankind is doomed. A race against time where it's a matter of life or death for the strongest men let alone for Evelina caught up in all this. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Through out the current period of educational change, Geography education has also changed. The innovations may be the starting point to affect conceptual change and paradigm shifts. Geography education assimilates and integrates knowledge, skills and scientific methodologies. The ten articles in this book illuminate a wide range of topics of interest to Geography education. In their article, Skarstein and Wolff discuss how the interplay between the environment, society and economy pillars of sustainability thinking play out on scales of time, space and multitude and how geography teachers can support the students’ understanding of sustainability. Yli-Panula et al. analysed used teaching and learning methods to find out good ones for promoting sustainability in geography. The same idea can be found in Duffin's and Perry’s article on Place-Based Ecology Education. In their article, Dür and Keller discuss the topics of quality of life, sustainability and global justice based on the goals of Education for Sustainable Development. Evaluation is an important part of learning. It is reviewed by Schauss and Sprenger regarding climate change education. The following two articles deal with students' views of landscapes worth conserving. In both studies, students expressed concern about the state of the environment. Yli-Panula et al. found that the Mexican students seldom considered their own activities in relation to the environment while Yli-Panula et al. stated that only some of the Finnish and Swedish students act as observers while others actively care for their environment. The remaining three articles deal with teaching methods and models. Benninghaus et al. present a benchmark method, which allows statements about the quality of the maps/diagrams in general. Álvarez-Otero and De Lázaro y Torres, on the other hand, describe their Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge model. Kopnina and Saari discusses student assignments reflecting on the documentary film through critical pedagogy and ecopedagogy.
