Download Free The Second American Revolutionary War for Independence PDF by David Pedri Full Book and published by Inspiring Voices. This book was released on 2020-01-03 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Second American Revolutionary War for Independence is Book II of my Trilogy, The Indivisible Light. It tells the story of a resourceful and heroic American patriot, David, Angela, his wife, and his right hand man, Michael, who come to know the diabolically inspired and directed Enemy, a vast array of fronts and tactics designed to mask their evil intention of destroying Christian civilization, especially America, the last bastion of liberty. With a determined confidence in God, the men lead the average, big hearted Americans in forming a militia that achieves victory with private arms, sharp wits and courage born of Faith. The reader is invited to fight alongside David in spirit and in imagination as our unflinching hero meets seemingly impossible odds that are, unfortunately, a frighteningly realistic projection of what America will face in less than a decade of this writing. Every woman will weep with Angela as she watches her husband and father of their children entering into harm’s way. They will pray with her for his return to life after news reports of his certain death are made public. This is the story of war, its logistics and the fear of death, but most of all it is the story of hope, the necessary foundation of courage and daring, emotions of the irascible appetite, often accompanied by anger, their companion in facing arduous opposition.
Download Free Throwing Fire at the Sun, Water at the Moon PDF by Full Book and published by University of Arizona Press. This book was released on 2000-03 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Perhaps you know them for their deer dances or for their rich Easter ceremonies, or perhaps only from the writings of anthropologists or of Carlos Castaneda. But now you can come to know the Yaqui Indians in a whole new way. Anita Endrezze, born in California of a Yaqui father and a European mother, has written a multilayered work that interweaves personal, mythical, and historical views of the Yaqui people. Throwing Fire at the Sun, Water at the Moon is a blend of ancient myths, poetry, journal extracts, short stories, and essays that tell her people's story from the early 1500s to the present, and her family's story over the past five generations. Reproductions of Endrezze's paintings add an additional dimension to her story and illuminate it with striking visual imagery. Endrezze has combed history and legend to gather stories of her immediate family and her mythical ancient family, the two converging in the spirit of storytelling. She tells Aztec and Yaqui creation stories, tales of witches and seductresses, with recurring motifs from both Yaqui and Chicano culture. She shows how Christianity has deeply infused Yaqui beliefs, sharing poems about the Flood and stories of a Yaqui Jesus. She re-creates the coming of the Spaniards through the works of such historical personages as AndrŽs PŽrez de Ribas. And finally she tells of those individuals who carry the Yaqui spirit into the present day. People like the Esperanza sisters, her grandmothers, and others balance characters like Coyote Woman and the Virgin of Guadalupe to show that Yaqui women are especially important as carriers of their culture. Greater than the sum of its parts, Endrezze's work is a new kind of family history that features a startling use of language to invoke a people and their past--a time capsule with a female soul. Written to enable her to understand more about her ancestors and to pass this understanding on to her own children, Throwing Fire at the Sun, Water at the Moon helps us gain insight not only into Yaqui culture but into ourselves as well.
Download Free Wounds of Love PDF by Frank Graziano Full Book and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2004-01-15 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Peruvian mystic St. Rose of Lima (Isabel Flores y Oliva, 1586-1617) was canonized in 1671 as the first saint of the New World and remains the object of widespread devotion today. In this engrossing new study, Frank Graziano uses the example of St. Rose to explore the meaning of female mysticism and the way in which saints are products of their cultures. Virginity, austerity, eucharistic devotion, incessant mortification, and mystical marriage to Christ characterized the devotional regimen that structured St. Rose's entire life. Many of her mystical practices echo the symptoms of such modern psychological disorders as masochism, depression, hysteria, and anorexia nervosa. Graziano offers a sophisticated argument not only for the origins and meaning of these behaviors in Rose's case, but also for the reason her culture venerated them as signs of sanctity. In the process he explores a wide range of themes, from the idea of suffering as an expression of love to the assimilation of childhood trauma through religious repetition. Graziano also offers a penetrating analysis of the politics of Rose's canonization. He finds that her mystical union with God--bypassing the institutional channels of sacrament and priestly mediation--was inherently subversive to the bureaucratized Church. Canonization was a cooptation by which Rose's competing claim to Christ was integrated into the Catholic canon. The book concludes with a fascinating exploration of mystical eroticism, with its intense experiences of vision and ecstasy. The eroticized suffering of many mystics is shown to be very human in origin: the mystic's wounded love is projected onto a God conceived to accommodate it. Wounds of Love is based on a decade of research in archives, rare books, and an extraordinary range of secondary sources. Introducing an innovative method that integrates history, cultural studies, psychoanalysis, and clinical psychology, this compelling work offers a bold new interpretation of female mysticism.

Download Free The Sun of Jesús del Monte PDF by Andrés Avelino de Orihuela Full Book and published by University of Virginia Press. This book was released on 2022-04-28 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Translated into English for the first time, Andrés Avelino de Orihuela’s El Sol de Jesús del Monte is a landmark Cuban antislavery novel. Published originally in 1852, the same year as Harriet Beecher Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin (which Orihuela had translated into Spanish), it provides an uncompromising critique of discourses of white superiority and an endorsement of equality for free people of color. Despite its historical and literary value, The Sun of Jesús del Monte is a long-neglected text, languishing for 150 years until its republication in 2008 in the original Spanish. The Sun of Jesús del Monte is the only Cuban novel of its time to focus on La Escalera, or the Ladder Rebellion, a major anticolonial and slave insurrection of nineteenth-century Cuba that shook the world’s wealthiest colony in 1843–44. It is also the only Cuban novel of its time to take direct aim at white privilege and unsparingly denounce the oppression of free people of color that intensified after the insurrection. This new critical edition—featuring an invaluable, contextualizing introduction and afterword in addition to the new English translation—offers readers the most detailed portrait of the everyday lives and plight of free people of color in Cuba in any novel up to the 1850s. Download Free Jesus Christ M.D.~The Awesome Power of Blending Medicine and Religion for Healing PDF by Jerry Old MD Full Book and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do ancient religious practices help in healing today? Is prayer of benefit? If so, what kind of prayers? What about "laying on of hands" or "casting out demons?" Over three-fourths of patients entering a hospital wish that their health-care providers would consider their spiritual needs as part of their medical care. Yet, most patients-along with their health-care professionals-struggle to understand how to use this spiritual side in healing. Modern healthcare is based upon science and often sees religion as getting in the way of healing. However, when humans combine our religious and spiritual nature with the science of modern medicine, we have the most powerful tool for healing the world has ever known. This book dares to explore this very personal aspect of human life that has had very little written about it-the private spiritual beliefs that people share with their doctors, spiritual advisors, and families when they are ill, injured, or frightened about their health. Here are the true stories of how people have used their spiritual side for healing. Many will mystify and give us chills!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most people are fascinated by the mysteries woven into every aspect of life - and into every part of The Story of Creation. This attraction originates with The One, the Creator of all life. The One is the master of divine and eternal mystery. Some of these mysteries can only be understood through divine revelation, often through inspiration and faith, and when the time is right to divulge parts of the Divine Plan. Life in the heavens existed long before the creation of Earth. Lucifer, the archangel, had a very important role in that spiritual realm; but he was cut and fell to an Earth designated as his princely dominion. This realm has become a battleground between angels who assist Lucifer and those who support the Heavenly Father. These angels interact with Lucifer, the Heavenly Father, and we humans in very different ways. These are only a few of the many mysteries revealed in The Story of Creation. The clarification and understanding of the Divine Plan divulged in The Story of Creation lights the way towards redemption and salvation. It clarifies the purpose of life, nurturing us wholly, even as the world moves ever closer to the end times when Lucifer loses all his power and is defeated by Michael the Archangel, whose own origin is revealed here for the first time in history. You will be surprised, amazed, enlightened, and uplifted by the revelations contained herein. The Story of Creation provides answers to many questions posed by those seeking to understand life's most intriguing mysteries.
